The Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment has donated Lm500 (€1,164.69) to Razzett tal-Hbiberija following the theft that occurred at the animal park two weekends ago.
The donation will be used to replace some of the 13 stolen animals.
Although it will take months to retrain the new animals, it is important for the children who use the facilities at Razzett tal-Hbiberija that the animals be replaced.
The ministry is trying to create synergy between, on the one hand, the Sant'Antnin plant and the proposed family park to be built in the vicinity, and the nearby Razzett tal-Hbiberija on the other.
Therefore, the family park will include a number of amenities accessible to children with disability and their families. These will include sports facilities, horse riding tracks and a space where the animal park can be extended.
The Ministry is also exploring how waste heat, generated by the upgraded Sant'Antnin plant, may be utilised to pre-heat the therapeutic pool at the Razzett.
While condemning such senseless acts of theft, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment George Pullicino reiterated Razzett tal-Hbiberija's plea, encouraging anyone who may have any information regarding the theft to come forward.
