A total of 54 persons were arraigned on charges of loitering for prostitution in the first nine months of this year. Although 25 were arraigned for the first time, the total number of arraignments was 207 as many were arraigned more than once, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Adrian Vassallo (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

He said thatinthose cases where the accused were convicted, the penalties ranged from a suspended sentence to fines or warnings.
