The National Archives of Gozo are mounting an exhibition featuring exclusive documents on the Gozo Citadel.

The exhibition will be held between October 18 and November 3 as part of Archives Awareness Week. It will display an array of plans of the Citadel fortifications, old photographs as well as recent photos taken by Gozo-born photographer Daniel Cilia. One exhibit shows an artistic impression of the Citadel as depicted in the map of Malta and Gozo reproduced by Jean Quintin d'Autun in his book Insulae Melitae Descriptio ex commentariis rerum quotidianarum, printed in Lugduni (Lyons) in 1536.

The bell-tower of the Matrice, built sometime after 1424, dominates the Citadel - one of the pictorial exhibits at the exhibition which is called The Citadel - The Crown of Gozo.
