In Vitro Du Bourg makes it eight victories on the trot

Of the eight trotting 2,140m events on yesterday's card at the Marsa Racetrack, the highlight was the Premier Class race.

Gozitan driver Julian Farrugia was the meeting's best driver with two wins.

Top favourite In Vitro Du Bourg, driven as usual by James Carabott, registered a massive 14-length win in the Premier Class to make it eight victories on the trot this season.

This magnificent 11-year-old French trotter raced clear of its competitors after surging into the lead 600m from the post. For the record, Hiosco De Davcar was second and Janville third.

In Vitro Du Bourg averaged 1'14.7'' per kilometre.

A strong dash along the last 150 metres helped Phillip Giordmaina's Iras Du Bottey to victory in Gold 2.

Iras Du Bottey finished a length ahead of second horse in and favourite Fraekke Siem. Nillans Comet was third.

Korentin looked all set to triumph in Gold 4 but in the final metres, it could not resist the rising challenge of eventual winner Jarret De Bouere, led by Gozitan driver Farrugia.

At the post, there was little between the leading two trotters while Mr King claimed third place.

First place in Silver 4 went to Jasper Erem, under the guidance of Sean Formosa, after the winning horse snatched the lead 200m from the end.

The winning trotter was a clear five lengths ahead as it passed the post.

Outsider Mighty Zoot, driven by Farrugia, produced a late surge in the final straight to take top spot in Silver 5.

The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
