Six thinking hats to put on

While excellent thinking tools have been developed for argument and analysis, and information technology methods are constantly improving, few tools have been developed to deal with our ordinary everyday thinking - the sort of thinking we do in conversations and meetings.

'Six Thinking Hats' is a powerful technique that helps one look at important decisions from a number of different perspectives. It helps one make better decisions by forcing one to move outside the habitual ways of thinking.

Edward de Bono created the tool in his book Six Thinking Hats, a thinking tool that shows that parallel thinking is the way forward, and how new concepts and ideas are urgently needed in today's rapidly changing world. As Dr de Bono says: "The quality of our thinking will determine the quality of our future."

The Six Thinking Hats method and tools will be taught and applied at a creative thinking course that will start tomorrow at 5 p.m. It will last a total of eight hours spread over three sessions, and will cost Lm50.

The course is aimed at individuals or groups who want to think more creatively and productively within various scenarios. If one is seeking more effective meetings, innovative solutions, creative channelling, or more, then this course is an ideal way to start.

It is sponsored by Createch (Malta) and will be hosted by 2 22 wine bar, situated inside one of Valletta's bastions, overlooking Marsamxett Harbour.
