A small group of immigrants are to be resettled in Portugal.

Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg and his Portuguese counterpart Rui Pereira signed a memorandum of understanding in Lisbon yesterday under which Portugal will receive up to 12 immigrants who need international protection and have been seeking shelter in Malta, a spokesman for the Embassy of Portugal said.

The transfer of the immigrants will be carried out with the cooperation the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
