The Employment and Training Corporation and the European Employment Service (Eures) in Malta last week held European Job Days, in line with similar events organised in over 200 cities across Europe.
The purpose of the event is to promote workers' mobility across Europe.
In a fair held in Valletta, the public could meet representatives of four leading companies in Europe that have shown interest in employing Maltese nationals. Disneyland Paris is looking for workers in various posts within its resort in Paris, First Group of the UK is looking for bus drivers, Christie Care is looking for live-in carers, also to work in the UK, and Treeships Enterprises would like to employ ICT personnel in the Netherlands.
The Job Days in Malta were managed by the Maltese Eures branch.
Eures, set up in 1993, is a Europe-wide employment service that operates through the public employment services in 30 European countries.
Its website carries on average over 1.2 million job vacancies, with 250,000 CVs and over 10,000 employers registered. Full details are available at http://eures.europa.eu or on www.euresmalta.com
Anyone wishing to know more about employment opportunities in a European country should contact the Eures Office of the ETC on 8007 6505 or by e-mail at eures.etc@gov.mt.
