The Association of Abandoned Animals has secured the services of dog lover Samantha Ostermann and money from the German animal welfare organisation Tierheim Suden to transfer dogs from Malta to Germany.

In fact, Ms Ostermann will be acting as a flight parent accompanying dogs on their way for homing.

AAA's Freddie Fenech said that in the past few years, Germans have been regularly homing dogs from his sanctuary.

Ms Ostermann said she expected to travel to Germany once a month as part of this voluntary work.

She will have the support of Romina Formosa in Malta and of Cristine Peters and Tonia Uberlander in Germany.

The AAA is trying to home two Labrador/Tal-Kacca crossbreds abandoned in Birzebbuga and a Pitbull puppy found in a skip in Qormi.

Anyone wishing to home one of the puppies can call 9946 4182.
