Having recently started our annual long-term holiday in Xemxija Bay, we found we had some new temporary neighbours in the park at the rear of the kiosk.

They were the Hamrun scout group who were camping there for a week.

Each morning at 8.30 we were greeted with Reveille, and again in the evening the excellent bugler closed the day at sunset. Other than this we hardly knew they were there, except when they left the camp for some activity or when they returned in a very orderly and quiet fashion.

Throughout the week the behaviour of the scouts was impeccable and it was obvious that they were entrenched in "the learning curve" that a camp of this nature brings.

The scout leaders must be congratulated on their leadership skills and for the way the whole week was organised and implemented in such a professional manner.

At the end of the week they packed up all of their equipment and left the park (which was now cleaner than when they arrived) in the same orderly manner as they arrived.

What a credit all these young people are to the magnificent island of Malta.
