The 35th meeting of the season at the Marsa Racetrack yesterday was made up of seven all-trotting events on the 2,140m distance. The most awaited races were the three from the Gold division. The rest of the card included three races from the Silver division and one from the Bronze category.

First place in the Gold 1 race went to Jewel Magic, driven by Noel Baldacchino. This trotter won after taking the lead midway through the distance and never surrendered its position. Power Cape was a very close second followed by Black Guy in third place.

There was a very close finish in the Gold 3 race when no fewer than five horses dashed closely together in the straight for home.

At the post, it was Michael Ellul's favourite Widget that just managed to cross the finishing line first to register its second successive win.

Simb Moonwalker and Houston were second and third respectively.

The Gold 4 race developed into a tussle along the final straight involving three trotters. Eventually, newcomer Dream Man, under the control of Emmanuel Cassar, went on to beat Circus Flip and Greatballs of Fire into second and third places in that order.

In other races, Etienne Mallia kept Regal Trot in the lead from start to finish in Silver 1 but this horse had to go all out to withstand the final efforts of second horse in, Icare De Jemma.

It was Regal Trot's second win from as many races at Marsa.

Pamir Point, under the charge of George Attard, grabbed the lead 600m from the finishing line to dash home strongly and win the Silver 2 race by three lengths.

Joko De La Lande, in its second race in Malta, and Jivaldi D'Hague broke away from the rest of the field in the last 150m of the Silver 3 race to battle it out for the honours between them.

At the post, it was Joko De La Lande that went on to register its second win in its second race at the Racetrack.

Iptus looked set to win the Bronze 1 race but was overtaken at the post by Inedit Du Tachen, driven by James Carabott.

The next meeting is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
