Michael Mifsud maintained his scoring form when he struck a late equaliser to give Coventry a 1-1 draw at home to Charlton in the Championship yesterday.
The Malta international forward, who on Wednesday stole the headlines with a brace at Premier League champions Manchester United in the League Cup third round, scored his sixth goal of the season with a low angled shot in the 84th minute.
Substitute Dele Adebola held the play up on the edge of the Charlton area before the ball broke to Mifsud, who fired home from 12 yards out.
Earlier, Mifsud, who kept his place in the starting formation, came agonisingly close to pull Coventry level but his volley hit the post.
Charlton had gone ahead early on with a goal from Lloyd Sam.
Coventry are ninth in the standings with 12 points from eight matches.
Dowie reserved special praise for goalscorer Mifsud.
"I'm really pleased for Michael and thought he was unlucky not to score before he did with the chance which hit the post in the first-half and then a shot which was saved in the second," Dowie said.
"He worked very hard all day and cemented his place in the side with a goal. He still needs to work on his runs and movement but to get three goals in two games is fantastic."
League Cup draw
Meanwhile, Coventry were rewarded for their shock victory over Manchester United with a home tie against West Ham when the draw for the fourth round of the English League Cup was made yesterday.
Holders Chelsea were given a relatively easy draw with a home tie against Leicester City, also of the Championship.
Premier League leaders Arsenal, and Liverpool also play Championship clubs.
Arsenal travel to Sheffield United while Liverpool will be at home to Cardiff City whose attack is now led by Reds old boy Robbie Fowler.
League cup draw: Luton vs Everton; Portsmouth vs Blackburn; Chelsea vs Leicester City; Sheffield United vs Arsenal; Tottenham vs Blackpool; Bolton vs Man. City; Coventry vs West Ham; Liverpool vs Cardiff City.
