Following the review by Cecilia Xuereb of "The National Orchestra Celebrates" (The Sunday Times, September 23) may I clarify that when, ten years ago the Manoel Theatre Orchestra was reconstituted in its present format, and renamed the National Orchestra, I had the honour of being appointed its first-ever resident conductor, an appointment I held for the best part of the first two years of the orchestra's existence.
