We had a long list of decisions of the Consumer Claims Tribunal (CCT) which were not honoured and which we used to feature every month. Since we had many cases of traders who did not honour the arbiter's decisions, we used to fill the whole page.
Unfortunately we had some cases which were honoured by the traders involved but the consumers did not inform us accordingly. We last carried the list on June 24, whereupon we had to cancel it and compile a new one.
Therefore consumers whose cases were included in our old list, and their cases are still pending, must resend us a copy of the CCT arbiter's decision.
Here follows our new, albeit short, list of CCT decisions which were not honoured:
CCT No. |
Trader |
Consumer's claim |
Decision |
CCT 1/07 |
Anthony Galea |
Lm50 plus expenses |
Trader is ordered to pay claimant Lm50 plus expenses |
CCT 239/05 |
Issa Isslam |
Lm400 plus expenses |
Trader is ordered to pay claimant Lm400 plus expenses |
CCT 39/07 |
Aaron Galea, Quality Turnkey Contractors, Quality Group Malta |
Lm1,000 for work that was supposed to have been done but was not done |
Trader is ordered to pay claimant Lm900 plus expenses. |
Finally, consumers who referred their cases to the CCT and had a decision in their favour which was not honoured by the trader, are invited to send me a copy of the decision so that we can feature it in the list.
I appeal to readers who send us a copy of the decision to inform us straightaway if and when it has been honoured. I also ask traders who honour their CCT decision to ask the consumers to inform me straightaway. This is because we had traders who informed us that they honoured the arbiter's decision only to discover that they did not.
