Positively concluded case

I received copies of two letters that Norman Cassar sent to the managing director, GasanMamo Insurance regarding an incident in which he and his wife were robbed in Prague. Both letters were copied in to me.

Here follow some excerpts from the first long letter:

While travelling through Europe, on May 21 we were in Prague. At around 7.30 p.m. we were having a meal sitting at an outside table of a restaurant. Three youths came up behind us and stole my wife's handbag which contained her mobile phone, personal jewellery, credit cards, reading glasses, and money, besides other items.

We reported the theft to the Prague police and after arriving in Malta on June 3, we submitted a claim at the Paola office of GasanMamo Insurance on June 6. The staff noted our statement and listed the particulars of what had been stolen. We presented the police report and they requested us to provide them with details of the stolen articles. They also requested us to provide them with receipts, photos, etc.

A couple of days later we returned with some receipts, photos, etc., but obviously we could not produce receipts for everything. They informed us that they would send everything to head office and we would be contacted in two or three weeks. On July 18, I received a phone call from Mr R.J. Sultana (claim negotiator) requesting further or better evidence about the stolen items. He also requested us to provide him with evidence that the credit cards had been blocked by the respective banks.

I informed him that I had contacted the banks myself and that I had been informed that the money stolen from the cards would be refunded...

Without going into further detail here follows the second important positive letter sent by a satisfied customer to Mr Galdes of GasanMamo Insurance Ltd:

I would like to confirm receipt of your cheque for the amount of Lm633 as settlement of my travel claim. I want to thank you for your prompt action after our telephone conversation and I have also noted your helpful remarks.

As I have done in my previous letter, I am copying this letter to Adrian V. Muscat Inglott to inform him of the successful outcome of this case. Thank you for your co-operation. (Norman Cassar)
