The Health Division yesterday kicked off its annual campaign to urge people to take the seasonal influenza vaccine.

The vaccine will be offered for free to over 55-year-olds, those living in homes for the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.

Local councils will also be offering the vaccination service for free, and the division urged those who would like to make use of this service to book the vaccine by contacting the council.

Vaccination can also take place in health centres, while housebound people can contact the health centre doctor so that they can be vaccinated at home by community nurses.

The division urged people not to take the vaccine before midOctober.
