A hawker was cleared of circulating counterfeit CDs and DVDs at the Floriana market after a magistrate ruled it had not been sufficiently proven that the items were found in his stall.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti also cleared Martin Cachia, 48, of breaching copyright laws and relapsing.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Cachia.
