Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU) council members joined the French Ambassador Jean-Marc Rives for a social event on the occasion of the current Rugby World Cup, which is being played in France.

The Ambassador invited members of the MRFU to his residence in Zebbug where he presented MRFU president Juan Borg Manduca with two World Cup tickets for match 44, the night quarter-final on Sunday, October 7 as well as two tickets for match 48, the final on October 20, both matches to be played at the Stade de France in Paris.

"The Malta Rugby Football Union is honoured by such an invitation and extremely grateful for the allocation of the match tickets," Borg Manduca, the MRFU president, said in a statement.

"We discussed the work being undertaken by the Union with the Ambassador, in particular our efforts to promote the game among children.

"We are also delighted to announce that a follow-up meeting is to be held in the near future in order to outline further details of the MRFU's strategic plan and explore ways how the French Embassy could be of assistance to us."
