Both of them start with an "M" but there is no love lost between them and the Mepa has featured on One News quite a few times for all the wrong reasons of course. This is unsurprising, as the planning and environment institution is not in many people's good books, whether Nationalist or Labour.
The problem is that those in the Labour media machine who never miss an opportunity to demonise Mepa have a good chance of being in government next year. What will a future MLP government do? Will it do away with the institution completely and let the minister decide who should build and who shouldn't? Will it replace the present members with some fervent Labourites close to the leadership circles? What exactly would the Labour party do if or when faced with projects like the Ta' Cenc one?
If this or other projects are given the green light would a future MLP government revoke it? If it is planning to stop the Ta' Cenc development what is Dr Sant planning to tell the proprietor and his employees?
Is it possible that in the touted Pjan Ghall-Bidu Gdid not even one paragraph was dedicated to answering these questions directly and not with a lot of nice, vague promises? The MLP says the people want change and yes we do! They can start by changing their own attitude and start telling people what they intend doing when and if they are elected!
