Melchior Vassallo recently returned from Vienna where he undertook an intensive three-day squash coaching course conducted by the European Squash Federation (ESF). This course was a follow-up to the one held in Malta earlier this year.
On the final day, Vassallo had to show the course instructors that he had practised and worked thoroughly during the summer to earn a Level 1 ESF coaching badge.
He attained his goal after convincing the ESF tutors that he could demonstrate all basic shots to beginners and that he had full knowledge of the rules of the game and safety regulations on court. He also had to prepare and conduct a coaching session with a pupil.
Now, Malta Squash boast two Level 1 and two Level 2 ESF coaches as well as three club coaches.
Squash training is held regularly at Cynergi by Eurosport, Living Well Health Club, Malta Union Club, Marsa Sports Club and the National Pool Complex. One may obtain more details by phoning 7941-1678 (e-mail: info@maltasquash.com).
