Around 95 Ernst & Young Partners from nine countries in Europe held their annual meeting in Malta last week. Ernst & Young is a global organisation that helps companies in businesses across all industries from emerging growth companies to global companies, deal with a broad range of business issues. It provides a broad array of services relating to audit and risk-related services, tax and transactions. In Malta, Ernst & Young employs around 100 staff.

Malta is this year serving as the venue for the annual partners meeting of South Eastern European region which forms part of the Continental European Area. This adds to the string of big names using Malta for their business meetings. Ernst & Young offices and specialist sectors have been using Malta for similar meetings for some years.

"The South East European region encompasses the newest members of the European Union and is therefore opportune for EY partners from these countries to savour what Malta has to offer in terms of future economic cooperation with this fast developing region of the EU" said Mario P. Galea, managing partner of EY Malta.

He said he looks forward to more such meetings as a means of strengthening Malta's perception in the minds of the client serving partners from the offices of advanced countries, from whom Malta draws most of its foreign direct investment.
