The Labour party has now for quite some time been promising a New Beginning and yet what it consists of, no one seems to know, so I decided to ask a few questions through this paper:

If a project (any type) costs more than the budgeted price will a future Labour minister resign?

If there are delays, of which the MLP makes a big deal, will the minister in question be held responsable?

The Mepa, an institution that people love to hate, seems to be on One news quite often, for all the wrong reasons of course... what is the MLP going to do? Will it change the present members and install Labour sympathisers instead? Will it do away with the Mepa altogether and give the minister all the powers to decide who should build when and where?

Faced with projects like Ta' Cenc what would a future Labour government do? It didn't do much when the environmentalists protested against the Hilton development so why will it be different now?

If the price of oil continues to rise how will Labour finance the losses? They say through cutting waste; waste like ministers' receptions and cars? Are we to expect MLP ministers to ride on the buses and mingle with the citizens once elected? Are we expected to see MEPs and foreign dignitaries eating pastizzi or greasy pizzas instead of dining with the Prime Minister and President? If not these then which is the waste Dr Sant will cut?

Talk to the hunters and most will tell you that the MLP will give them back the "rights" they lost; what are the Labour MPs telling hunters when they go to their homes? Is Dr Sant pontificating as the law- abiding environmentalist on The Times and then saying otherwise when they're among themselves? Which part of the 1997 agreement with the hunters could really be retained and why not tell us now which Nationalist imposed rules will be removed for the hunters' benefit?

The same goes for tourism; the good trend now is no guarantee for the future. Does Labour have a contingency plan, in case the worst happens? What is it and who drew it up? In winter when business is slow in Bugibba we had enough crocodile tears to fill a quarry for the self-employed there and words like "regeneration" sounded like icing on a rotten cake but then, clichés apart, what is the MLP's plan for Bugibba? Some complained to Dr Sant that tourists leave the locality during the day; is Labour planning to build barricades and force the tourists to stay in Bugibba throughout their holiday come what may?

Whatever happened to the most able Karmenu Vella who was a very good tourism minister between 1996-1998? Any plans to "re-employ" him? Right now, a lot is being said about corruption and Dr Sant promised inquiries left, right and centre. Inquiries like the ones of Michael Frendo which were never held?

What will Dr Sant do if one of his ministers is blackmailed and videotaped when supposedly talking in private? How will he react if the videotape is played everyday on Net News?

One of the most recent suggestions was that the MCESD chairman is to be given a ministerial rank; who is this person going to be? Who is going to choose him?

The questions are endless, but the space is too limited so I will conclude by saying that as much as it is a fact that the PN have been in government for 20 years (save 22 months) so has the MLP been in Opposition and what exactly does the Labour Party have to show for all these years? Then they say we have a choice.
