Vodafone has launched new internet and fixed telephony packages for home and business users, through which customers can benefit from higher downloads at better rates.

Vodafone is also giving away a free cordless handset to customers choosing a Vodafone internet and fixed telephony service.

From Lm5.95 (€13.86) a month, users get an internet service with a speed of 1Mbps and 10Gbytes in free downloads. For higher speeds, Vodafone customers can opt for a 2Mbps internet speed and 20Gbytes in free downloads for Lm9.87 (€23) a month. Customers can also opt for fixed telephony add-ons including 200 minutes worth of free local calls.

"With these new offers, Vodafone is providing its customers with the opportunity to benefit from free downloads, higher internet speed at the best prices and a free cordless handset. Business customers can also benefit from these attractive offers. Vodafone @home provides customers with the best home internet experience through an extensive broadband wireless access (BWA) network. Vodafone is accelerating its BWA roll-out in order to ensure that customers can access internet and fixed telephony service from various locations. "We are confident that by the end of this year, Vodafone Malta will have nationwide coverage of its Vodafone @home service," Kurt Camilleri, Vodafone Malta's senior manager, bandwidth business, said.

Vodafone Malta said it is the first mobile operator to offer broadband and voice over IP services to residential and business customers through fixed WiMAX, on the 3.5 GHz spectrum. Vodafone Malta said it is also the first Vodafone operating company to commercially deploy fixed WiMAX to deliver broadband services to the home and business.

Customers subscribing to Vodafone @home do not need to change their fixed line number. Customers can also move their broadband connection to wherever they go.

Fixed WiMAX can be used for different applications including wireless broadband connections in the home, high-speed connectivity for businesses and connecting multiple internet users.
