Enemalta Corporation thanks Colin Azzopardi (The Sunday Times, September 16) for his observations on street lighting poles at the Fleur-de-Lys roundabout to Msida Street.
The corporation takes utmost care to replace deteriorating street lighting poles on the basis of a priority classification. The top priority, for example, includes poles damaged by traffic collisions, or changes mandated by the realignment of roads.
While the street lighting poles are generally utilitarian in design, slight variations do arise from time to time depending on manufacturer and when they were fabricated. In such instances the corporation is not in the position to change poles solely to secure a uniformity of style.
Following Mr Azzopardi's letter the identified poles were checked, and that a relative degree of deterioration in three of the poles was observed. The corporation will carry out appropriate action in due course.
