Fourteen students at Guzè D'Amato Boys' Secondary School, Paola, gave an excellent interpretation on stage of excerpts from the theatrical works of Molière, all related to the life of this 17th century French author, actor and director. The performance took place as part of the school's prize-giving ceremony.

Dressed in period costumes prepared by Textiles teacher Elvira Busuttil, the young actors gave an excellent interpretation as they performed That Mischievous Sganarelle, written by Tyron Grima and directed by Emanuel Cassar and Aldo Zammit. Debbie Seychell designed the set with the assistance of her art students.

Besides this dramatic piece, the evening programme featured musical selections, including the school anthem, played by the school band under the direction of Mro Manoel Pirotta. An audio-visual presentation followed, entitled 'Go l-iskola Guzè D'Amato ta' hajjitna nfasslu s-snin', which is also the title of the school anthem. Emanuel Cassar co-ordinated this feature assisted by Adrian Vella, who was responsible for the technical design, and Chris Borg, Albert Muscat and Donna Rose Farrugia, all teachers at the school.

In a speech, school head Joe Cilia Vincenti compared the school to a ship. He said that although the captain sets the route and takes corrective measures in view of problems that crop up on the way, it is the crew that executes the required tasks. Similarly, he said, the ship called Guzè D'Amato BSS would never have weathered the storm and achieved the results it did, had the staff, in their vast majority, not excelled in their professional skills.

Mr Cilia Vincenti said that "the never ending involvement and commitment of all employees" led to harmony and order reigning supreme all over the school. He also referred to the physical and environmental progress at the school that benefited all students. He praised the school council, which had helped improve the school environment through its mature participation in all school matters, and thanked parents for their co-operation.

Education Officer Paul Mifsud then presented prizes to the sucessful students.
