The unfinished paving project in Merchants Street and St John's Square in Valletta showed the incompetence of the government, Labour leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.

Speaking in Valletta, Dr Sant said proper planning seemed to be non-existent.

Giving an overview of project's timeline, which goes back to May 2002, he said three separate completion dates and three expenditure estimates had since been given.

Dr Sant complained that one needed a brush to remove the dust one collected when walking through the city centre.
