A media production house filed a judicial protest against another production house and an advertiser claiming they illegally used a musical tune that it had the rights to without authorisation.
26th Frame Limited filed the protest, in the First Hall of the Civil Court, against Clare Agius Media Productions Limited and Alan Pace who runs Active Zone and Fitness Club.
26th Frame claimed that Mr Pace was promoting his business with a television advert that made use of the music tune called Closing Score. This tune was the opening theme of the television programme Pupi, aired on Net TV and produced by 26th Frame.
This music was owned by 26th Frame, according to law, and Mr Pace never requested authorisation to use it.
Mr Pace was claiming that he was not responsible for the advert as he had commissioned Clare Agius Media Productions to produce it for him, the protest read.
However, Clare Agius Media Productions denied using music that was property of 26th Frame during the adverts of Active Zone and Fitness Club, which aired during the programme Teen Trouble on Net TV.
26th Frame insisted that it never authorised Mr Pace or Clare Agius Media Productions to use the tune and they had acted illegally by doing so.
Lawyer Cedric Mifsud signed the protest.
