Hosts France cut loose at the expense of Namibia yesterday to record an 87-10 win over the African side and gain their first points of the World Cup.

The French, who were defeated 17-12 in the tournament opener against Argentina 10 days ago, collected a bonus point for scoring four tries after only 32 minutes.

Namibia were reduced to 14 men when number eight Jacques Nieuwenhuis was shown a red card for a high tackle in the 19th minute.

France's fearsome lock forward Sebastian Chabal scored two second-half tries, greeted with rapturous applause, before he was substituted in a French side with 12 changes from the team who lost to the Pumas.

They now meet Ireland at the Stade de France on Friday and then Georgia in Pool D.

Other results: Pool A - Samoa vs Tonga 15-19; Pool B - Fiji vs Canada 29-16.
