Further to the letter titled Anybody For A Ride by Tony Sammut (September 6), I must totally agree with him.
I wanted to call Melita to advise them that I am moving and wanted to transfer my service to my new residence. So I called the number shown on the bill. The first call I made I waited on the line for about four minutes, listening to some recorded message as the lines were busy.
I tried a couple of times later and as I was about to give up a voice came from Melita saying I could send an e-mail. So I did and hoped that by the next day I would get an answer. I didn't and sent another e-mail and still no answer.
I looked up their site and found other telephone numbers, which I called but all had the same recorded messages. Then the next day, I took a chance and tried to call again.
This time, to my surprise, someone came on. I was advised that they can come to my new house in about two weeks. Not a very fast service I must say.
Does Melita realise they have competition? After this ordeal I could have gone somewhere else to obtain a cable service. I find it hard to believe that every telephone line they have is always engaged.
