Accused of threatening wife and her lawyer

A 40-year-old man was yesterday charged with threatening to kill his wife and her lawyer during a mediation sitting at the law courts in Valletta.

The man, of St Paul's Bay, pleaded not guilty to threatening his wife and her legal representative and slightly injuring his wife on Wednesday at about midday.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard the wife's lawyer, Ian Micallef, explain how the man had threatened he would kill them both during the sitting.

The man was remanded in custody.

Names are not being published to protect the identity of the wife.

Police Inspector Alfred Mallia prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech appeared for the man.
