The Maltese Welfare (NSW) are celebrating 30 years of service to the Maltese community in New South Wales by publishing a 162-page directory that is full of information about the social and commercial activities of the many Maltese and their descendants living in and around Sydney.

Lawrence Dimech, president of Maltese Welfare (NSW), said this 2007 edition is presented in such a comprehensive way that one can proudly pass it on to one's children and others that are interested in Malta and the Maltese community in NSW.

There are statistics showing the geographic distribution of Maltese by suburbs and municipalities, how to contact associations, clubs and Maltese in businesses. "An informed community is a community better prepared," said Maria De Carlo, secretary of Maltese Welfare (NSW). She said the publication is intended to help Maltese migrants and their families meet their needs for a better life in Australia and to keep in touch with Malta and the Maltese.

The Maltese Welfare (NSW) has been connected with the publishing of Maltese community directories since the first one that came out in 1978. The latest version has also a history of the Quiet Achievers' Award - Night of Recognition which has been held for the last seven years during NSW Seniors week.

The Maltese Community Directory NSW was officially launched by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi during his recent visit to Sydney.
