While speaking about the launch of the government's vision for the Grand Harbour on Radio 101, Austin Gatt admitted that now that the vision has been launched, consultation with the concerned parties will start!
Instead of working the other way round, first consulting and then launching a serious plan which is built on the needs of the direct stakeholders, the Nationalist Party took the quick route, proving that the so-called vision was a quick exercise in an attempt to override Labour's plans, which are at an advanced stage after months of consultation.
The Labour Party has shown its commitment to keep in touch with the people and plan its strategies around the needs of the same people, keeping in mind both the social and the economic dimension. The Nationalists on the other hand are tired and lagging behind.
The same happened when the Labour Party launched its plans for the Bugibba and Qawra area. The Nationalists are renowned for their pre-electoral visions and plans, but 20 years sounds like a long enough timeframe to address these issues. It's time up.
