The fourth edition of the Don Bosco summer club organised by the Don Bosco Oratory of Victoria ended with Mass celebrated by Mgr Nikol Cauchi, Bishop Emeritus of Gozo, and a film show for children in the hall of the oratory.
Three hundred boys and girls regularly attended the sessions of the summer club held three times a week during July and August. Eighty volunteers, mostly youths, took care of the children and animated the sessions.
A typical day would commence with Mass at the chapel of the Oratory and then the children would be split into groups where they would be taught various subjects including crafts, clay-modelling, cooking, ganutell, dancing, drama, storytelling, painting, crib-building, stamp-collecting, sewing and arkett. Other sessions included sports and fun games.
A number of outings to Malta and other places in Gozo were organised. Children also took part in various activities organised by various groups including the drama unit of the Education Division, the OASI Foundation and medical students.
