The fourth edition of the Don Bosco Summer Club, organised by Don Bosco Oratory of Victoria, came to an end with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Emeritus Nicholas G. Cauchi, and a film-show for children in the hall of the same oratory.

Three hundred boys and girls regularly attended the summer club sessions held three times a week during July and August. Eighty volunteers, mostly youths, took care of the children and animated the sessions.

A typical day would start with a Mass at the chapel followed by lessons in crafts, clay-modelling, cooking, ganutell, dancing, drama, story telling, painting, crib-building, stamp-collecting, sewing and arkett. Other sessions included sports and fun games.

Throughout the two months, a number of outings to Malta and other places in Gozo were organised. Children also participated in various interactive activities organised by various groups including the Drama Unit of the Education Division, the OASI Foundation and the medical students.

During the last week of the summer club a number of activities were held, including an exhibition of crafts, paintings and other things produced by the children, a concert at the oratory hall, a variety show at Marsalforn, a pizza party, and a day outing at Ramla l-Hamra.

The oratory is currently undergoing intensive refurbishment so that it will cater better for the current needs and safety standard requirements, especially with regards to the socio-educational and pastoral needs of today's youngsters.
