Valencia have said they would open disciplinary proceedings against Spain winger Vicente after he criticised the club's medical staff.

"The club will take the necessary action against the player depending on whether his conduct is considered a 'serious' or 'very serious' offence under internal regulations," the Primera Liga side said in a statement.

The 26-year-old, who has suffered a string of ankle injuries and niggling muscle strains, reacted angrily to Valencia medical staff suggestions that his problems were more psychological than real.

"I have lost all confidence in the Valencia doctor and the club's medical team," Vicente told a news conference earlier in the day.

"It's clear mine isn't a psychological problem. I have only been to a psychologist once before and that was because doctor Antonio Giner sent me. I didn't return because it was not what I needed."

Vicente, who has 38 international caps, made only 16 league appearances for the side last season.
