Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna will mark Victory Day with a full gun salute from the Saluting Battery in Valletta tomorrow.

The event will kick off at 11.30 a.m. with a commentary in Maltese and English about the significance of the day and the historic tradition of marking public days with artillery fire.

The gun salute will commence immediately after noon when FWA historical re-enactors will undertake the daily ritual of marking the passage of midday with the firing of a cannon.

Two guided tours of the historic battery will also be offered at 11 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. The public will also be offered the opportunity to handle period ammunition and equipment used in loading and firing the guns. A nominal fee of Lm1 per person is charged which will go towards the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the historic monument.

Following tomorrow's event, FWA will provide free transport to the Malta At War Museum in Vittoriosa and Fort Rinella in Kalkara. At the latter, another historic re-enactment will take place at 2.30 p.m., which will recreate aspects of the daily life of the late 19th century garrison.
