There is another important Heritage Trail taking place this month, but this time in Gozo. The fascinating and ancient byways of the Gozo Citadel will be visited on a Heritage Trail consisting of a guided tour of the citadel, focusing on the fortification complex and World War II shelters. The tour will be led by Dr Stephen Spiteri and Mr Charles Bezzina. Traditional Maltese food will be served in a restaurant in the heart of the citadel to the accompaniment of live music. But if you want to participate in this one you'll have to get your skates on, since it is happening today at 6 p.m. The price for the trail is Lm5 (€11.65) and includes the guided tour, food and beverages. HM will be organising another tour to the Mnajdra Temples and Hagar Qim, this time to view the Autumn Solstice on September 22 and 23. Participants will meet at the Hagar Qim gate at 6 a.m.

There are quite a few exhibitions both continuing and commencing this month under the auspices of Heritage Malta. First of all the exhibition of works by the late Antonio Sciortino continues at the Exhibitions' Hall of the Museum of Gozo until Sunday. So there's just two days to catch it.

Back in Malta the Contemporary Art Exhibition by Matthew Kassar continues at Heritage Malta Head Office in Valletta until September 30. Then over at the Contemporary Hall at the Museum of Fine Arts in South Street an exhibition of drawings by Jesmond Vassallo, Gilbert Calleja and Robert Zahra opens this evening and continues right through to October 2.

Going back onto the Caravaggio 400 theme, in the Salon of the National Museum of Archaeology, there will be one of the most important exhibitions related to the master artist. Described as a unique experience, on view will be a number of original paintings by or attributed to Caravaggio. This showing opens on September 25 and continues until the end of November.

This month, until September 30, the St Angelo Hall of the Malta Maritime Museum will host an exhibition organised by Heritage Malta and the Commune Palazzolo Acreide as part of an EU programme Interreg III A Italia-Malta. This is entitled Voyage & Voir: Travellers of the Grand Tour.

Over in Gozo and running right through until the end of the year the Kola Windmill in Xaghra, Gozo is the venue for Malta's Mediterranean Trilogy Culture- Bread, Oil and Wine. This is an exhibition forming part of Heritage Malta's participation in an EU funded project entitled TRIMED.

As part of Victory Day commemoration tomorrow, Heritage Malta are offering half price admission for all adults at the National War Museum, Valletta and Palace Armoury, Valletta. There will also be free entrance for anyone under 16.

There will also be half price admission to all Heritage Malta museums and sites on September 27, which happens to be World Tourism Day. Again anyone lucky enough to be under 16 years old on that day will get in for free.
