Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa dominated the first free practice session at Monza on Friday morning as McLaren's Fernando Alonso hit mechanical problems and spent most of his time in the garage.

Times went down sharply from last week's tests at the same circuit, indicating that both Ferrari and McLaren had been sandbagging (and most of the testing was on a damp track).

Raikkonen set a best time this morning of 1:22.446, which was more than a second better than last week's times. Massa was 0.144 seconds behind with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton in third place 0.172s behind the Finn. Alonso was fourth followed by the Williams of Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button in a Honda and Giancarlo Fisichella in a Renault.
