Transport Minister Jesmond Mugliett has written to Labour leader Alfred Sant urging him to meet the people at the Malta Transport Authority overseeing the Manwel Dimech bridge reconstruction.
The Opposition Leader has been heavily criticising the ministry for its handling of the bridge's reconstruction.
On Sunday he called for an inquiry into the delays and possible overruns in the project.
The minister readily accepted, saying he had no problem answering questions before a legally-appointed committee. However, Dr Sant called for a judicial inquiry, specifically ruling out one conducted by the Public Accounts Committee, a choice Mr Mugliett said he found curious given that the PAC is chaired by a member of the opposition.
Mr Mugliett yesterday repeated his invitation for Dr Sant to have a meeting with the ADT's technical people overseeing the project to discuss it with them.
Dr Sant, who is abroad, was not available for comment.
