Immigrants escape from detention centre

The police and army are looking for two illegal immigrants who were among a group of six who escaped from the Safi detention centre early yesterday morning.

Four of the immigrants were caught by army personnel just outside the centre soon after the escape, which occurred at 2.30 a.m.

A spokesman for the Home Affairs Ministry said no one was injured in the escape or during the capture.

The six immigrants managed to climb over the perimeter fence and run away from the centre during a commotion created by fellow immigrants, which is now believed to have been caused to distract the guards.
