Five shooters from the Malta Shooting Sport Federation represented the country in last weekend's European Junior Champion-ships at the Sabbia D'Oro Ranges in Venice, Italy.

The Maltese Trap team, composed of Ryan Bugeja, Justin Attard and Darren Xuereb, placed third in the event for teams with a total of 261 clays from a possible 300.

In the competition for singles, Bugeja's score was 88/100, Xuereb managed 87/100 and Attard hit 86/100.

Also in Venice, Skeet shooter Darren Vella made it to the barrage final after smashing 92 in the 100-clay competition.

In the final he hit another 22 to settle for a creditable fifth place overall. In the same event, Clive Farrugia had an 88/100 score.

The junior shooters, under the guidance of coach George Micallef, return home this morning.

Today, William Chetcuti will figure in the Double Trap World Championship shoot in Cyprus.

Olympic Cup

Jeffrey Pisani won the Trap Olympic Cup yesterday as the Malta Shooting Sport Federation's calendar of competitions continued at Bidnija.

Result: 1. Jeffrey Pisani (42+20) 62; 2. Emanuel Attard (41+18) 59+4; 3. Alfred Falzon (42+17) 59+3; 4. George Grech (42+16) 58; 5. Paul Gatt (42+16) 58; 6. Charles Muscat (42+16) 58.
