Leaders Rangers kept up their 100 per cent start to the Scottish Premier League season by crushing newcomers Gretna 4-0 yesterday.

Striker Kris Boyd put the home team ahead after 38 minutes when his 22-metre free kick clipped the defensive wall and spun away from keeper Greg Fleming.

Rangers defender Andy Webster scored on his debut when he nodded in a 63rd-minute corner by DaMarcus Beasley.

Carlos Cuellar headed the third goal before Jean Claude Darcheville made it 4-0 after coming on as a substitute.

There was also a debut for Steven Naismith, who joined from Kilmarnock just before the end of the transfer deadline on Friday and came off the bench for the closing minutes to a rapturous welcome.

Rangers have 15 points from five games, four ahead of second-placed Hibernian who beat Inverness 1-0 thanks to a first-half penalty from Steven Fletcher.

However, Hibs had goalkeeper Yves Ma-Kalambay to thank for keeping their lead intact after saving a penalty from Marius Niculae before the break.

Aberdeen won 1-0 at Kilmarnock with Lee Miller scoring with an overhead kick on 50 minutes while Dundee United defeated Falkirk 2-0.

Champions Celtic visit St Mirren today while Hearts travel to Motherwell tomorrow.
