SAC Fest 2007 - a three-day fund-raising festival - was held at St Aloysius' College in May, including football and handball tournaments, board games such as chess, draughts, war hammer, Lord of the Rings and 40K, line dancing, a treasure hunt, a model flying display, scouts activities, stalls, pasta night and BBQ nights, as well as open air evening concerts featuring students and renowned guests Ivan Filletti, Bitterside and sword swallower Alexander.
The volunteers' work contributed to the activity's great success. Stage crew members worked till the early hours of the morning to set up the concert stage and to prepare for all the other activities. Other students were involved in the design of logos, in the setting up of stands, in the design of a Website and in the publishing of a daily newspaper.
Teachers, secondary and sixth form students, together with their families, non-teaching staff and past pupils, attended the festival. All funds collected will be used to partially finance a new computer room in the secondary school, and new computers in the sixth form library.
Thanks go to all those without whose help and dedication this activity would not have been possible, including the college rector Fr Patrick Magro SJ and the Jesuit community, Jean Pierre Portanier, the College Council, the teachers and students who invested time in all the preparations, and to all our sponsors - Sounds Good, Farsons, Pavi, HSBC and Eurosport, as well as Webcraft for sponsoring our Website.
