Paintings at the Xaghra parish church in Gozo have undergone intensive restoration and conservation.

The cupola dedicated to the Consecration of St Publius was painted by Virginio Monti.

The restoration project also includes the gilding of the stone sculptural features as well as the installation of six stained glass windows for the cupola lantern.

The restoration was carried out by the restorer Manwel Zammit, of Zejtun, while the gilding and stained glass windows were done by locals.

The project will be blessed by Archbishop Paul Cremona in a special ceremony to be held on Monday as part of the programme of activities on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Victories which reaches its climax on September 8.
