Hundreds of London underground workers are to hold the first of two 72-hour strikes next week, their union said yesterday.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union (RMT) said 2,300 of its members will walk out from 1700 GMT on Monday in a row over job security and pensions.
The strike follows the collapse of Metronet, responsible for maintenance on nine of the London Underground lines.
RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said he had failed to win guarantees over his members' jobs after the Metronet consortium went into administration.
