A 41-year-old man was yesterday fined Lm500 after he admitted to threatening police officers with a kitchen knife while he was drunk.
Carmel Pace, of Birkirkara, pleaded guilty to threatening and insulting several police officers, the illegal possession of a knife and relapsing on Thursday.
Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna noted that Mr Pace had filed an early guilty plea and had apologised to the police. After noting that Mr Pace had a tainted criminal record, he warned him that if he broke the law again it would be jail for him.
Police Inspector Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.
Lawyer Joseph Giglio represented Mr Pace.
