George Debono asked: Who does Malta belong to? with reference to Ta' Cenc (August 28). I would like to say that a golf course is a must for the island's tourism.

As an environmentalist, a golfer and a frequent visitor to Malta and Gozo, a golf course would be an asset and not an environmental insult as he described it.

A golf course creates a spacious open feeling and spectacular views of the beautiful unspoilt coast, with the absence of development or divisive streets. It is all live green turf with sand traps and it offers a very exciting game.
