The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) will be marking the ISAF Centenary celebrations, dubbed Sail the World Weekend, with a series of races starting today.

The RMYC will be joining more than 100 sailing organisations from all parts of the globe for Sail the World Weekend as the world body of sailing is promoting the event worldwide and urging newcomers to join the sport.

Among the international events marking ISAF's 100 years are the Paraguay National Champion-ships, the European Champion-ships in Poland, the pre-Worlds in Portugal and classic boat racing in Greece.

Events get underway today with a passage race for keelboats starting from Marsamxett and finishing at the waters outside the Ramla Bay Resort.

There will be a series of races for keelboats and dinghies tomorrow and Sunday in the south Comino channel.

The racing weekend has attracted the sponsorships of Ramla Bay Resort, 1565 Beers and Safari Fruit Juices.
