Paul Haber has been selected from among a number of international artists to exhibit his ceramic sculptures in a one-man show at the Palais de l'Europe at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Mr Haber is one of the few artists to be invited to hold an exhibition in the majestic venue, designed by renowned architect Henry Bernard. Exhibitions are usually held within the Art Gallery of the Council of Europe.

The artist said he was privileged to be displaying his works at the Palais, since it is frequented by thousands of visitors daily.

Having studied in top art colleges in the UK and Italy, Mr Haber is also involved in education. His latest appointment was that of a ceramics lecturer at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology.

"Our islands are full of talented artists, who are making a name for themselves and for our country. However, they require support in furthering their careers," he pointed out, thanking Bank of Valletta for sponsoring him.

The bank's Fiona Brinkworth said: "Supporting the development of Maltese artistic talent and promoting Maltese art is one of the main areas of BOV's Community Programme, and is also an excellent opportunity for the promotion of Malta within the EU."

The exhibition will be inaugurated next Tuesday.
