We went on a very interesting outing to Palazzo Falson, in Mdina. We went by bus to the silent city.

We went round the old, quaint, narrow streets and soon we arrived at the Palazzo Falson, where two welcoming guides called Antida and Simon welcomed us.

First we visited the courtyard, surrounded by rooms on all sides. In this beautiful palace lived Olof Fredrick Gollcher.

We entered a room called the refectory. We saw a hole underground, which was used to keep prisoners.

The most beautiful room I saw was the armoury. There were pistols, knives, chains and cannonballs. We visited the strong room, where we saw all the silver cutlery, and the Neff, which is the old name for a ship.

The kitchen has a fireplace and a huge oven. In a small room Gollcher kept medals, coins and jewellery that he and his wife had. In the dining room there was a wonderful green Maltese clock. On the table there were thousands of books and one of them was called The Venition Palaces!

In the chapel there were three icons and a beautifully sculptured pre dieu, where Gollcher used to keeps the bible, prayer books and rosary beads.

The carpet collection is one of the most beautiful collections in the palace. Gollcher liked to search for archaeological objects in the sea. And in one room we saw some antiques.

I really enjoyed this outing to this beautiful old palace. It is thanks to Fondazzjoni Patrimonju that we can enjoy such a high standard of cultural outings, where we can appreciate our heritage at such an early age.
