Malta U-18 opened their commitments in the Women's European Championship Division C on a positive note. Yesterday they beat Andorra 48-37 at the Ta' Qali Pavilion.

After trailing 12-5 after the opening quarter, the Maltese hit back in style scoring thirteen points without reply in the second session to take an 18-12 lead at half-time.

Malta kept control of the match on the restart and went on to extend their advantage to 32-22 at the start of the final session. Here, Salvo Coppa's girls retained composure to finish comfortable winners.

Christine Grima was the game's leading scorer with 15 points.

The Maltese will be in action again tomorrow when they face Gibraltar who yesterday lost to Luxembourg 60-45.

Playing today: 4.45 p.m. Gibraltar vs Andorra; 7 p.m. Monaco vs Luxembourg.
